Falls short on delivering the full experience of the platform due to missing many key features. Tl dr: Telegram X is not completely open source. But at this point, the app is missing some very key features which makes it hard to use. I don't wish it to be abandoned or deprecated in anyway, quite the contrary. Telegram X is a very light and sleek client, it introduces some very great ideas. (I think I can name many more.) Some of these features have been part of the whole Telegram experience for a long time now but they are not yet available in Telegram X.īesides, Telegram X is not (totally) open-source, and that's not comforming with Telegram's slogans that much.Įdit to add this from my own comment below: The last major update of Telegram X happened after almost 2 years from its previous one, and that too was about half a year ago. But it certainly does lack some of the key features already present on the main app, such as commenting, reactions, folders, step forward/rewind of videos and etc. Telegram X is too good to be abandoned IMO. Telegram X is an alternative version of the original Telegram client built on TDLib (Telegram Database Library) technology.
